About Tal-Lajku
Handcrafted Maltese confectionery from the heart of Xaghra, Gozo
Our Heritage
The story of Tal-Lajku begins in the narrow streets of Xaghra, Gozo, where the Debono brothers first opened their doors in the 1970s. Inspired by the recipes of Gorg il-Lajku — their grandfather — they set out to preserve the traditional Maltese confectionery that had been passed down through generations.
For over five decades, Tal-Lajku has been the trusted name for authentic Gozitan pastries and sweets. From our famous qaghaq tal-ghasel during the Christmas season to fresh kannoli and traditional biskuttini year-round, every item is made by hand using time-honoured methods.
Today, the tradition continues. We still use the same recipes, the same dedication to quality, and the same love for our craft that Gorg il-Lajku instilled in our family all those years ago.
